482 Nomination Transfer
A nomination transfer allows an Australian employer to sponsor a worker who already holds a Subclass 482 Skills in Demand (SID) visa with another business.
The worker does not need to apply for a new visa if their current 482 remains valid. Instead, the new employer must lodge a new nomination application to take over sponsorship.
This pathway is commonly used when:
- Hiring a worker already in Australia
- A 482 visa holder approaches your business for work
A 482 visa holder who stops working for their sponsor generally has 180 days (6 months) to:
- Find a new sponsoring employer, and
- Have a new nomination lodged
If a nomination is not lodged within this period, the worker may be required to leave Australia.
Minimum Salary (CSIT — Core Skills Income Threshold)
Effective 1 July 2026
The nominated role must meet both the minimum income threshold and the Annual Market Salary Rate (AMSR).

Minimum salary: $79, 423 per year
Process — Nomination Transfer Steps
- Confirm the worker holds a valid 482 SID visa
- Confirm the employer is an approved Standard Business Sponsor (or apply if required)
- Confirm the role meets occupation, salary, and market rate requirements
- Complete Labour Market Testing (if required)
- Lodge the nomination application
- Await Home Affairs decision
No new visa application is required unless the worker’s visa is close to expiry.

Employer Requirements
- Must be an approved Standard Business Sponsor (or eligible to become one)
- Role must be on an eligible SID occupation list
- Role must be full-time and genuine
- Salary must meet the minimum income threshold AND Annual Market Salary Rate (AMSR)
- Labour Market Testing must be completed where required
- Must comply with sponsorship and employment obligations
Worker Requirements
- Must hold a valid Subclass 482 SID visa
- Must meet skills and experience requirements
- Must meet health and character requirements

Superannuation, bonuses and commissions do NOT count toward the minimum.
Salary must also meet the Annual Market Salary Rate (AMSR).
