IMPORTANT CHANGES COMING IN MARCH 2018
If you are planning to sponsor overseas workers after March 2018, these changes will effect your business.
SPONSORING TEMPORARY WORKERS
In March 2018, The 457 Temporary Work Visa will be replaced by the TSS Visa (Temporary Skill Shortage).
Employers will be required to make a contribution to the Skilling Australians Fund to sponsor workers on a TSS Visa.
- $1,200 per year for occupations on the short term skilled list
- $1,800 per year for occupations on the long term skilled list
This amount as payable upfront at the time of nomination. (Eg. If you nominate your worker for 4 years and your business turnover is more than $10 million, your upfront payment will be $7,200)

SPONSORING PERMANENT WORKERS (ENS 186 & RSMS 187)
In March 2018, Employers will be required to make a contribution to the Skilling Australians Fund to Sponsor workers on a Permanent 186 or 187 Visa.
- $3,000 for small businesses (Turnover less than $10 million)
- $5,000 for other businesses (Turnover more than $10 million)
This amount as payable upfront at the time of nomination.
Employers will be required to pay TSMIT (Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold) Currently $53,900 per annum.
